A POEM SUBMITTED FOR LOUDTHOTZ OPEN POETRY READING JULY 2011 FREE BOOK POETRY CONTEST

THE HEN HAS STOPPED LAYING
They ask God to reward the hen, when it lays
But ready to condemn, when it defecates

When they are comforted, they keep quiet
But when discomforted, they swear to revenge

They smile and beam when harvesting goat's meat
But hit a stick on its skull for being stubborn

They are confident to criticize
But timid to praise

When the cow milks, they say 'wait for heavenly reward'
But ready to nag when it attends to nature's call

They'll never spare you for God, but judge your misdeeds
And, never praise and acknowledge your good deeds

They get wool from sheep and say 'wait for nature's commendation'
But kick the sheep for being dull

They are economical in their praises
But lavish in their criticisms
.................

Their ungrateful nature fetches them more enemies than friends
Painfully, their demeanour has made the hen stop laying

As the cow has also stopped milking
Goat and sheep are rapidly going into extinction

As human race is getting abolished

No thanks to the INGRATES.
