A poem by Chisom Ohuaka at Loudthotz Open Poetry Reading Season 2 Episode 6

WHAT WE SPEAK
We do not know what we speak
But when we speak…
What was said is not it
The sounds don’t mean the words
The words are shadows, representations.
We speak power, dynamo
Continuously generating results, authorithy…
It cannot be held or understood
They are felt sometimes, revealed, known
We speak mysteries revealing eternal truths
Speaking “like” God, saying God’s thoughts
A miracle! A finite being carrying
Divinity, spiritual, eternal verities
An earthen vessel containing treasures
Of creation, treasures of glory.
