You said the king learnt a new song
that he sang at this octave
So amazing
so horridly amazing
It kindled terror unspeakable
Then you asked
Who will dance to this beat
I answered
Refrain:
Doh soh doh
nnukwu te ajuju
Doh Re Mi
I juru kam zaa
Doh Fah Mi Re
I jugbuem o
Doh Mi Re Doh
M ga-azalata
that he sang at this octave
So amazing
so horridly amazing
It kindled terror unspeakable
Then you asked
Who will dance to this beat
I answered
Refrain:
Doh soh doh
nnukwu te ajuju
Doh Re Mi
I juru kam zaa
Doh Fah Mi Re
I jugbuem o
Doh Mi Re Doh
M ga-azalata
I can't sing
I can't even dance
You said the house cat laid an egg
the cock was asked to fetch the hen
So, who will ask the cat
Why it laid an egg?
Refrain
I can't even dance
You said the house cat laid an egg
the cock was asked to fetch the hen
So, who will ask the cat
Why it laid an egg?
Refrain
You kindled the flame
you roasted the yam
the oil has got a taste
the yam has turned to waste
who will bear the cost?
Refrain
you roasted the yam
the oil has got a taste
the yam has turned to waste
who will bear the cost?
Refrain
They said the snake learnt to dance
The python came to dance
the son became
a daughter in flight
for life
Again you asked
Who is laid to waste?
Refrain
The python came to dance
the son became
a daughter in flight
for life
Again you asked
Who is laid to waste?
Refrain
They kindled this flame
This maggot that burns and eats
through our marrows
This worm that has caused so many to despair
This worm that has caused so many a scattering
This worm that has caused
so many, so many to rot
in agony
in hate
In blood shed
Then you asked who will bell this cat?
Refrain
This maggot that burns and eats
through our marrows
This worm that has caused so many to despair
This worm that has caused so many a scattering
This worm that has caused
so many, so many to rot
in agony
in hate
In blood shed
Then you asked who will bell this cat?
Refrain

LIGHT
(worthy
of mention)
It takes more than water to quench fire
the eyes cannot see
so when you see the sea
throwing up it's hands in hurray
don't ask if it's problem are in the waves
The fire that burnt down our collective sanity
wasn't lit with a match
it takes only a drop of tear
to water a stray thought into a revolution
Let us not curse the darkness
it didn't choose it's own skin
let us kindle little lights
maybe we'd get to see ourselves with more clarity
Dried skin like dried leaves
Doesn't need fuel to catch fire
When life's cold claws grip you firmly
Make yourself the very light that bring warmth
Lightening doesn't strike at the same spot twice
Even the blind dog recognises the pit that broke
it's limb
We don't get to call ignorance as
witness
When we're called to stand before our
conscience
Do not be afraid of walking into the darkness
It's strenght is merely a shadow of your weakness
It is dark at the bottom of the sea
Only when you leave your light at the surface
A sour face doesn't cure headache
Let your mind and your soul do the dance of the
two-back beast
Let their eclipse blind the earth with
brightness
Unleash that fire always ready to burn
Kindle that dried leaf floating in the forest
of your mind.

CONSCIOUS
Consciously
you help us to remind
God’s
will which is greatest to mankind
It
helps us to be kind
like
the trumpet it blows in the wind.
You
help my wisdom to flourish
My
knowledge you nourish
My
understanding you polish
Which
I all cherish
In
the world greatest mind you raised
Everyone
sings daily your praise
Like
the morning sun you rise
To
make the intellectual wise
Great
leaders you guide
To
the greatest height they ride
Foolish
ones loose you in pride
To
abyss of woe they stride.
Souls
you delivered from the pit
Because
you are a special gift
Between
good and evil you sift
All
you avoid is unnecessary rift

#ClearPath...
To
a wandering friend
A
step after the other leads to where?
Just
like you
Here
we are burdened by choice
The
ones made and
The
ones yet to take
The
ones bestowed by nature and
The
ones fostered by society
Expectations
on high
Degree,
you must get at a certain age
Employment,
you must secure from a certain sector
Marriage,
you must not miss in your 20s
Any
short of this is a burden to the mind
You
are not alone, gutted by doubt
Not
of success
But
the path to success
The
forerunners gave a tale of crooked path
Yet
not for once did we find dust on their foot
Hard
to pick, who to model after
In
a society of ours
Where
vice is the new norm
And
virtue
An
alien to our smart-age
You
are not alone, wondering why we are here
When
every creed
Claims
the right to the 'absolute TRUTH'
And
the only path to LIGHT!
Hard
to find, where to pitch one's tent
In
a society of ours
Where
faith temples
Prioritize
the need for one more jet
And
Spartan life
A
curse to the doctrine
You
are not alone, questioning our oneness
When
every clan feels marginalized and
Secession
the only path
Hard
to know, who to relate with
In
a society of ours
Where
every tribe beats the drum of war
Yet,
it is the blood of the commoners
That
will go for it
Yes,
my friend
A
journey of a thousand miles
Begins
with a step. And
A
step after the other leads to where one is focused
Yet,
along each step may appear a rocky ground or a bend
Let
not the bend distort your focus. 'Cos
The
Moon
The
Stars
That
shines in the darkness of the night
Is
an ember of hope that
Come
with dawn is the brightness of day.

PLANTING NEW SEEDS
Today
hate took its last breath
From
this heart consumed by love
Today
greed was extinguished
From
this heart in flame with contentment
Yesterday,
I remember with horror
The
torment lived through
How
I killed me softly
Hating
peace and loving war
Weeding
season is now over
Planting
new seeds
I,
a husbandman plant everyday
We
are husbandmen
What
do we plant?
Light
and darkness are not roommates
Love
and hate can’t dwell in the same heart
Kindness
cannot live with wickedness in the same soul
Today
I feel the living spring of love
Spreading
seeds of hope and courage
To
step out and live again
To
plant
To
love like never before

KINDLE
There was a blue
moon
That rainy monday morning
Omeka was hot and shivering
His head was pounding
As he uttered in groaning
The incomprehensible
He could hardly say a word
He could hardly forget the word
Sharper than two edged sword
Here was birth
Soaked in death
He only felt
The girdle of guilt
His eyes was open
And shut to the oven
It brought scenes in dozens
When he stabbed John
How he shot Sean
With his black gun
How he killed mum
And did mourn
When he saw porn
As huge fun
How he did shun
His conscience
From his past he did run
But that word
Rang inaudibly in his world
Inside the sticky mud
Sharper than two edged sword
Could this be hope?
Can I lope?
From this pond
Of blood?
Omeka thought
Almost letting the rope
With the pains he could not cope
At the gate of hell
The burden fell
In splits of seconds
The scales dropped
Audibly came the word
Sharper than two edged sword
He is faithful and just
To forgive and love
The pillar of fire
Became a life wire
Hope unadulterated
And light penetrated
Gave meaning
Not to faces in dozens
But to birth soaked in death
He outshone death

KINDLE MY URN
verse 1
the rooster crowed
and i beat a row
across my brow,
a frown with a roll,
she yawned astride
my chest,
with a sigh for a conquest,
it made my heart beat a request,
good things come to those who wait,
kindle my fire ,she the quaint,
i was in cloud nine in yesterday's sigh,
kindle my urn baby
make me cry anthems for a ruby,
let my sigh of songs
beat an octave of pleasure
across your thighs of Wuthering heights,
i found my lost sonnet,
i played a lyre across your
twin hills,
kindle my urn,
fill it up with your tame kisses
kindle my fire,lass,
let me die in your riverfalls,
kindle my urn
let it burn bridges
across the sweet desert
of your nape,
kindle my fire
let my lust
become a macbeth
who died to sleep
and earned the kingdom
of a whore's Judas kisses,
even Portia wouldnt mind
for lust must come to judgement
let my lust be kindled
or die a poet's prayer.

NOTES
TO MENDE
One
It was a boa noite of July
I could remember
how I stood bare before you
Like a canvas on an easel
Your cloudy hands let loose
And beautification rained upon me
two
Here in your Arena
My words are set on fire
and the ascending smoke
summoned the gods of Loudthovus
to vindicate me
Had I known you earlier
My words would not have slept
three
Looking into the alluring fire
behold
Sir Vain and the hypothetical man
Singing and dancing
and king Conscious at a corner
Sipping his raw poem majestically
four
Each time you puff that kindle perfume
Its fragrance take over me
As though
Am under the influence of baptizing
never know such a harmless of a fire to exist
five
I met Monsieur Google
He told me
Kindle is to awake
to arouse and to ignite
But he never got to mention your name
aaah Monsieur Google
iti bolibo
six
You arouse my imagination
seduce my fears and
crushed me positively
And now I feel like an evangelist
seven
I may be able to speak
Portuguese and Spanish
but if I have no Mende blood flowing in me
then you know, I never was here
'cause Mende, you kindle me
Until my scalp turn solomonious
Like that of a friend named Wole
I will never ever leave you, Mende

‘KINDLE’
It ignites like a slow burning fire,
It gradually arouses emotions beyond words,
It sprouts grasses of desires. Kindles...!
Spreading the flames in the depth of the heart,
It evokes the fragility of the heart,
Its candor excites the very soul,
It provokes jealousy,
It overpowers weakness,
It overtakes hate,
It overcomes prejudice,
It shakes up every fabric of your very soul,
It plays hide and seek,
It raises a smile,
It causes laughter,
It erases sadness,
It overwhelms U!
If you have found it,
Continually rekindle it,
Let it flare up within you,
Let it light the darkness,
Never try to decompose it,
Heat it up, and it will warm your very being,
You have made your choice,
Keep it……
Fight for it……
Work for it……
Treasure it……
And it will stay with you
If you are searching for it,
Brighten your heart,
Glow your inner being,
Unshackle your chains,
Invite it in, and it will……
Inflame you all over,
Strike a chord with it…
It will sing the best melody…
And you will dance to its rhythm.
It hurts….
It bruises hearts…
It heals….
It endures….
It grows….
It glows….
It is happiness….
It is kind….
It is patient….
It never fails!
May the setting sun of love kindle once again!

GIRL
CHILD
She would shed the pleasant calories of her
beautiful frame to augment the obese widths of his bloated ego.
Daily she would drink his dripping, empty words as
a drunk gulps a fine wine .
She never queried his intent,
She just loved the way he stared at her hips and
other soul strewn contents .
She was little , awe and Dearing,
All she needed was someone caring,
His love was just a fish love .
Eat and clean mouth.
And then the tale of the salacious fish he
chorused with a bad mouth.
She soaked herself in the detergent of his words.
All his adulations about her morphological
aesthetics and fidelity were a great wash.
She loves his pain branded fire.
At least , this is somewhat familiar.
Better is a known devil than an unknown angel.
She taught herself to die for him.
She taught herself to be low and for his happiness,
tone her skin.
His smiles were her joy,
But all his sweet crusted words were coy.
Her hands akimbo, she paused to think
Love indeed for a girl child must be tough and
sick.
She ain't gonna cry methinks , until avalanche of
tears crawled out of her lids in mass so thick.

THE
WORLD ABYSS
Just at the end of the rope
I sighted a green light
A flicker of hope
A possibility of flight
I refused to just mope
To give up without a fight
This shining green light
Had renewed my hope
Just at the end of the rope
I sighted a green light
A flicker of hope
A possibility of flight
I refused to just mope
To give up without a fight
This shining green light
Had renewed my hope
Providing me with more rope
I fanned its flames
The smoke blinded me
So I called out names
Hoping someone would help me
The green light burned bright
Yet it eluded me
I fought the darkness with all my might
But vanities hindered me
The smoke blinded me
So I called out names
Hoping someone would help me
The green light burned bright
Yet it eluded me
I fought the darkness with all my might
But vanities hindered me
I held on tightly to the rope
My last chance and hope
Looking to the east
I see confusion brewing
Looking to the west
I see trouble stewing
The south
Ravished and wrecked
The North
Opposite stages and sets
The green light shines
But majority can not see
Instead they dine
In iniquity
One two ...two thousand and three
Finally people are joining me
Fanning till it bursts into flame
Yet the response to the green light remains the same
How can one kindle in men?
The hope of living again
Can an eagle listen to a hen?
Can I change the world with my pen?

Kindle! A transitive verb with numerous
connotations such as light, arouse, illuminate, inspire and lastly bring into
being i.e. commence. This word is at the heart of the creative; a recompense
for creativity and the catalyst for any activity.
Kindle! Amorous passions arouse towards a glamorous
spouse who perpetually teases with her skin-tight blouse which her lover often
espoused. The files of her vulnerability he intently browsed.
Kindle! A beacon of hope, an unquenchable light
which helped his people cope. Telling them that there is no need to cowardly
mope rather they should broaden their scope for enlightenment would be their
saving rope.
Kindle! A weaver that makes bright yarn with his
reliable spindle. Fabrics then fashioned into ensembles which illuminates the
personality of its wearer, causing her to radiate and glow. Everywhere she
goes, she steals the show.
Kindle! To birth an idea or person. An ambiance of
newness, novelty and the share bliss of tranquility. All, the consequence of
ingenuity; a realm of the abstract where ideas are ever fertile like a tract of
farmland.
Kindle! A word that readily inspires like a human
who willingly respires yet unable to tame her worldly desires which sets her
world ablaze like wild fire but from this earthly race she would soon retire.
Kindle is a word akin to rechargeable batteries for
its creative energy would never dwindle!

CROUCHING TIGER...
You are my bottle of pain - bitter and sweet
A creative potion...
Soury, sugry, saline tears you are
You inspire me but hold me back
Let me loose and ill serenade ur senses...
Loving you to death do us part.
Pain and laughter are songs composed in the heart
But like a broken string of a guitar.
I can hurt you when im broken
Strung, I give the sweetest vibes
After the the damage we can mend fences
A heaving volcano I am
Fighting to cage my eruption
But all I ever emit is fumes and smoke
I've never give my all thus far
My emotions are my literal tiger, you say
My words are life and death - I slay
My words carry oily eloquence
My words are fire
Will I kindle this fire in my own pond of oil?
Will I slay my human consciousness for creativity's sake?
You are my bottle of pain - bitter and sweet
A creative potion...

SOMEHOW
Somehow I knew we could never be together
We were like flint and dry grass
We would be aflame with any friction
We could set life itself on fire
So I knew we could never be together.
We were like two right legs so we can never walk
We were perfect like a unicorn
But like a unicorn we were not real
We were our own judges, no gown, no gavel, just us
So I knew we could never be together
We were like two orbs of light
We were so bright
And we didn’t care the world saw us
Like Icarus we flew too high
Our wings melted
Unlike Icarus by the sun of our glory
Then we could never be together
We kindled in ourselves such harsh emotions
And so much bright warmth, it was so much
That our souls were confused
Because such fury and such passion
Should never be together
So I knew we could never be together
I see you now and remember the fire you once kindled
And promises of the fire you could kindle
But I know deep down, we are too perfect for each other
So we can never be together.
